I wanted to speak about something in light of a few incidences this past year. Namely, regarding the hijab, and a few major influencers deciding to take it off.
I'm not here to say, "be respectful of people's choices, only God knows what's in their hearts", because this should be well understood. Kindness and respect. They are virtues.
Our Last prophet did not treat "some people" kindly and "others" with disdain. Let me remind you of the elder woman who would dump garbage atop his head everytime he walked by.
And he treated her kindly.
The people who said nasty words. The people who threw stones. He had the option to order the angels to flatten them between the mountains.
He did not.
Islam does not discriminate. Our Prophet was just as kind to the beggar as he was to the merchant.
Islam brought unprecedented change in a time where even the Europeans were behind. Islam honoured the slaves like brothers. And freeing them was an act of Virtue. It destroyed racism in a time where the rest of the world was so far behind. This is why it grew so fast in such a short period of time.
There is a reason this religion has burned so brightly in that dark night. Despite being the underdog in an inhospitable region.
It was the truth.
It brought everyone to an equal plain. Men and women. Black and white. The baby girl was given back her rights in a time where no one wanted them.
Because this is a religion of equality and kindness.
This is why it is evident, that when we witness icons in the Hijabi Community remove their hijabs, we should not be base.
However, that said...
